Salihli's resistance during the National Struggle years is hidden inside a structure carrying the traces of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms. The core challenge of the design was to enable visitors to re-experience the decisive moments of the period within the space, rather than merely telling them.
"We didn't just tell history; we brought the visitor inside the headquarters."
Focusing on Salihli's 13-month resistance, the narrative was structured to make the local memory of the struggle for independence visible. Through texts, documents, lighting, and projection mapping techniques, the past is not merely told; it is felt anew within the space.
The emphasis on the "last stronghold" was placed at the focus of the central narrative area, allowing visitors to feel the strategic importance of the city during the resistance process.
In the restored building reintroduced to cultural heritage, the wooden floor, curtains, and desk preserve the historic atmosphere of the room. The archive photographs and text panels on the wall complement the space's memory without overshadowing the objects.
A simple yet powerful museum experience places respect for the past at the center of the exhibition.
