About the Project
October 10 Memorial Park is a memorial space designed for Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. It aims to transform a crowded urban area into a quiet square that creates space for remembrance and reflection.
At the center of the design are columns with tree trunk textures and a wide canopy supported by these columns. Beneath the canopy, stone seating blocks form small clusters where visitors can slow down and sit. Text panels and an inclined inscription wall embed the park's narrative into the space.
The focal point of the park is a monument brought to life with light inside a glass enclosure. The names are inscribed on the monument's base; thus, remembrance is conveyed not as an abstract symbol, but as the memory of individual people.
