"How do you fit a geopark inside a building?"
The story of Kula-Salihli Geopark extends from millions of years of geological processes to volcanism, lava flows, and the cultural history of the region. The main design challenge was to make this story, whose scale is the terrain itself, understandable and experiential in an enclosed visitor center without relying solely on information panels.
"We didn't just explain the geopark; we immersed the visitor inside geological time."
A process spanning millions of years was transformed into a spatial / auditory / visual sequence that visitors can comprehend. Curved, cave-textured surfaces and focused lighting create a journey of discovery that draws visitors step-by-step into the story of the Earth's crust.
Interactive systems were designed to allow visitors to discover geological formations rather than merely read about them. Serving as the focal point of the space, the centrally located illuminated sphere installation, supported by surrounding wall graphics and maps, transformed information into an emotional experience.
Stone relief panels on the wall bring the region's real rock and carved textures into the exhibition. The presence of the Kula Divlit volcanic cone right opposite the center was particularly important in site selection:
"The exhibition does not end at the door."
The center was envisioned as a starting point that enables visitors to read in the real landscape the geological formations they learned inside once they step outdoors.

Today, the Geopark Visitor Center serves as a learning and experience space where visitors begin to explore Kula-Salihli's volcanic formations, geological heritage, and the region's cultural history.
