About the Project

Designed for Kağıthane Municipality, Nurtepe Marketplace transforms the local neighborhood market into a green public space surrounded by a broad canopy.

The most distinctive element of the design is the folded roof composed of triangular surfaces. Supported by slender columns and tension elements, the roof protects both the market stalls and visitors from sun and rain, while its upper surface presents the building as a unique mass when viewed from the surroundings.

Lawn areas and rows of trees on both sides of the market connect the building with the street fabric..
